Why did you choose to make Harvest your home church?
We sensed that God was truly the leader here. We felt His Spirit loud and clear.
Where are you currently serving?
Bret is Deacon over the IT (Tech Team). Martha serves on the Finance Committee. We are leaders of the Safe Families Ministry Team. We are using some of our gifts by serving as a Safe Families host family for children that need a safe and loving home while things get worked out at their home. We are able to show these kids the love of God, share the gospel with them and share other things all children should learn at home.
We are using other spiritual gifts by using our vocational skills to help support and organize our church operations. Volunteering our expertise and time for God at Harvest is a great pleasure.
How have you seen God move?
We've seen God move in the people's hearts, minds and lives of our Life Group members in many ways. Building up each-others’ faith has helped us live closer to God the way He wants us to live.
We've seen God move in people's hearts with respect to giving of themselves, their time, their lives, and monetary support. Our local outreach ministry enables volunteers to build relationships with partners they encounter while serving. These Christ-infused relationships provide many folks with the opportunity to hear the word and experience God's love, human-to-human, especially through the teens we serve through Safe Families.
What obstacles have you overcome?
God continues to help us overcome the excuse of the busy life for not serving. He only gives us as much responsibility as we can handle. He knows before we do how much we can and cannot handle time-wise. Sometimes it seems overwhelming but God on our side helps us achieve and overcome. He is our life governor and letting him take the throttle really eases our minds. Romans 8:28-39 has been our motto recently: "being called according to His purpose... who shall separate us from the love of Christ... for we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us."
