To reflect God’s glory to Him in worship—which is our primary calling and greatest privilege, and from which all ministry and service flows. To increase our passion for and satisfaction in our Maker, bringing Him honor and us our greatest joy.
1. To draw attention to the sufficiency, supremacy and glory of the living God; expressing His infinite worth.
2. To stimulate in a great love for God (worship) in response to His goodness (Ps. 31:19), which is an act of obedience (Lk. 19:40) and flows into evangelism (Ps. 40:3)
3. To engage people’s hearts AND minds through song, so that we are “true worshippers” worshipping in “spirit and truth” (John 4:23) pursuing reverence, passion, wonder (Ps. 96) and understanding.
4. To encourage lifestyles of worship, so that far beyond our moments together our lives are lifting Christ’s name high in worship wherever He has placed us (Rom. 12:1-3)
5. To create original music that glorifies God and stretches artistically
6. To give our best by rehearsing, planning, and thinking through specifics of each service to eliminate distractions of “bad” music, clumsy segues, etc. so that we might “disappear” and God would be lifted up. To maintain a standard of undistracting excellence (Col. 3:17) so that we may offer our best sacrifice (Heb. 11:4) as an act of worship.
7. To be real—authentic, genuine
8. To assure the content of our singing, praying, welcoming, and preaching will always conform to the truth of Scripture (Isaiah 40:8), choosing songs based on lyrical content and musical merit, whether it was written hundreds of years ago, or yesterday.
9. To promote and experience personal, active encounters with our Maker—seeking those moments we stand before Him holding back nothing. Wholly His.
