Thoughts after Resurrection Sunday
Resurrection weekend was a highlight for me. Not only did I have my parents in town but I had my spiritual family around me (my church) to celebrate the Risen Savior. That sure makes it more glorious when God's people are shouting out their praise to God for sending Jesus our Savior. Wow, I know my voice was hoarse from singing really loud two services and preaching. It was all worth it.
There were quite a few people there - 881 to be exact (though my dad was probably counted twice since he stayed for both!). Where do we go from here?
I want you to be praying, looking, and making opportunities to talk with your friends further about what they heard. If you brought someone on Sunday, talk to them about it. Don't be afraid. They came at your request so it won't be a surprise to them that you wish to talk further. What big events like Resurrection Day bring are conversation starters. They are catalysts that nudge hearts to think about the present life and the one to come. So go on, then, and ask them...
- How did you like it? What did you think about my church?
- What did you think about the message? Did you find yourself agreeing or disagreeing with what the pastor said?
- Was there anything that you didn't understand?
- (If you think they are ready for this one...) What keeps you from following Christ?
Don't get discouraged if you don't get the responses you hope for or that your friend did not show up. Keep praying for them, loving them, and speaking to them about Jesus.
Need help? Come to my class starting this Sunday (May 1), Share the Gospel Class which starts at 5 PM.
