Ben and Allison Miller
An Interview with Ben and Allison Miller
How long have you been a part of Harvest?
3 years
Why did you choose to make Harvest your home church?
We first started attending the Harvest Rolling Meadows campus when we were living in the Chicago suburbs. When we moved to Rockford, we heard that there was a Harvest church plant in Rockford. We love that the Gospel is presented unapologetically.
Where are you currently serving?
We currently lead a life group for people in their 20s (3rd year), serve on the greeting ministry team, and Ben serves as a deacon over the IT (tech team) ministry. The Lord has gifted Ben with the ability to lead and Allison with the gift of administration. We are using these gifts most prominently within the context of being Life Group leaders and Ben as a deacon over the IT ministry. We are also using our hospitality gift on the greeting ministry.
How have you seen God move?
We both had the opportunity to be a part of the Romania 2011 missions team. We were amazed by the overwhelming support we received from various members in the Harvest church body. We saw God move so powerfully in the lives of the Romanian youth and the Lord opened our eyes and humbled us in several areas of our own spiritual walks. We also have been blessed by so many of the friendships we have made at Harvest and within our life group.
What obstacles have you overcome?
When we moved back to the area and visited Harvest Rockford, we knew that is where God wanted us to be plugged in at. After about a year of being back in the Rockford area, we purchased a home in Byron. Harvest is about a 45 minute drive from our home, and we have had to make sacrifices in our schedules to build relationships with our life group members and serve in the areas that God has called us to. We have learned that we cannot use our distance as an excuse not to be involved and serve.
